Pennsylvania’s Alternative Energy Portfolio Standards Act of 2004 was put in place to provide economic development opportunities by increasing the mix of alternative electricity generation in Pennsylvania. It requires electric distribution companies and electric generation suppliers to pull 18% of the electricity they provide from renewable energy resources by 2021.
